Tangerine

Tangerines not surprisingly are closely related to mandarins, with the difference being that they are sourced from Morocco and have a more reddish orange colour. Tangerine was named after the port of Tangier in Morocco. Originally the fruit was called ‘tangerine orange’ but then the name was cut just to tangerine. The tangerine has a subtly sweeter fragrance to mandarin and are smaller and less rounded than common oranges. The taste is considered less sour, as well as sweeter and stronger, than that of an orange.
